Why not wet the toothbrush before using it?
As we all know, to maintain good dental hygiene, it is important to brush your teeth daily, even several times a day. However, almost all of us have a bad habit of rinsing the brush before and after applying toothpaste. At the right time, we do it without even thinking. Certainly, we firmly believe that this gesture is necessary to moisten the brush in order to better lather the paste, but also to “clean up” dusty hair and thus protect our mouth from surrounding microbes. However, as dentists explain, this is a misconception. And, as everyone knows, the received ideas have hard teeth. In fact, by wetting the toothbrush we are only limiting the effectiveness of the cleaning, because the toothpaste may become more diluted and not be as effective. Specialists insist that the primary focus should be on the right brush and not on the toothbrush itself.
Are the brush bristles too stiff? In this case, you can barely spend a second underwater. And be sure, next time, to buy a model with soft bristles. But tell yourself that by rinsing it before applying the toothpaste, you are only increasing the level of moisture in it, which will increase the foam and thus reduce the benefits of the toothpaste. Too much foam does not help brushing teeth!
On the other hand, the gesture you should make that will be most effective is to rinse your mouth before brushing your teeth. This way, you can get rid of leftovers from the previous day that are stuck between the teeth. Similarly, you can neutralize the acidity of some consumed foods.
How to brush your teeth properly?
For proper dental health, dentists recommend brushing your teeth two or three times a day. There’s no excess either: don’t plan on brushing more, because you can attack your gums or even damage your tooth enamel. The important thing is to give it a minimum amount of time. You should spend 30 seconds in each quarter, or two minutes in total: bottom left, bottom right, top left, and top right. If you wish, use a stopwatch for better control of your brushing.
To effectively remove tartar, be sure to hold the brush properly. It should form a 45-degree angle with the gum.
