Precautions to take if you receive unwanted text messages

There are also a number of methods you can use to stop SMS ads and scams.

  • If you have any doubts that this is a spam text message, do not send a reply

Responding to advertising or other SMS lets spammers know that your phone number is working. What will happen next is that it can sell your details to other spammers who may in turn flood you with bogus promises of free gifts and product offers. So it is better to block and report the number.

  • Never click on a link in unwanted text

Clicking on a link in an unsolicited text message can install malware on your phone or direct you to fraudulent websites that look real but are specifically designed to steal your personal information. If you get hacked, you may notice that your phone’s battery life and performance are significantly reduced. However, if you accidentally click on a link, be sure to close the window immediately. If you find that files were downloaded without your knowledge, delete them and do not open them.

  • Block the phone number from which the unwanted SMS originated

Blocking a phone number helps ensure that you never receive text messages or spam calls from that sender again.

  • Report the phone numbers from which unwanted text messages originate to your carrier

In addition to blocking fraud or advertising text messages, it is also useful to inform your telephone operator of the number in question so that they are aware of it. You can do this by forwarding the received message to 33700.

  • Be careful not to share your phone number anywhere to avoid unwanted SMS

Consider your personal information, including your phone number, your most valuable treasure. Do not share it with strangers or on any website or platform.

If you receive an advertisement via SMS or if you suspect that it is a scam, feel free to block and report the sender’s number. You now have several tools at your disposal to stop being deceived.
