Here’s how to successfully reduce heating consumption during the colder months.
How do you reduce excess heating bills thanks to your windows?
Although heating season is fast approaching for many (there are others out there already), here’s how to reduce your energy bills. It is worth remembering, for example, to expose radiators – never hide them behind furniture or curtains. It is also important to properly ventilate the apartment, that is, after setting the knob to the zero position, as well as installing thermostats on the radiators. Of course, it is also advisable to use the heat correctly and not to set the radiators to the highest heating power.
Heating costs also go down if we keep windows and doors closed. A practical trick thanks to which we can use an unknown function in PVC windows. Few people realize that such insulation protects against external temperatures.
How to turn PVC windows into winter mode?
It is easy to adjust the winter mode of PVC windows. This can be done by adjusting the gasket appropriately. Look for the adjusting pulley, a distinct metal pin in the moving window frame, visible after opening. With its help, we can adjust the narrowness of the window, depending on the needs.
To set the winter position on the windows, simply tighten the screw to the frame about 90 degrees. Sometimes it is enough to do this with your fingers or pliers, some models will need a special key. When it gets warmer, just unscrew the screw again.
Putting winter in windows is nothing more than making the seal more compact on the window frame. As a result, less fresh air enters the apartment or house. Each feature has its pros and cons, and so are they. Adequate air circulation reduces the risk of allergic reactions.
Depending on the type, this accessory is adjusted by turning manually with pliers or a screwdriver. In some cases, before turning, the mechanism must be pulled out on its own, and only then it is turned on.
The main seasonal set point of window frames is the need to constantly move them from “summer” to “winter” and vice versa. With a strong “winter” pressure, the rubber seal gradually begins to deteriorate. Owners of PVC windows often face the fact that after a few years this rubber needs to be changed. This happens precisely because the sash, according to the instructions for the window manufacturer, is not transferred to the summer mode with a weak clamp, but is left as it is after winter.
These few tips are essential to reduce your heating bills during the winter season when it is fully used.
